RUN, JUMP, THROW

This week we are starting to prepare for athletics, which is approaching in Week 9 of this term. Sport Canterbury have come in to teach us some specifics in order to properly prepare us for the event.

Today the children were focusing on the Run component of Athletics. We looked at how to take off properly and how to keep our speed up when running. It is important that you take off with your opposite arm to your front leg forward....this can be a hard habit to break for those who aren't used to starting like this!

Jumping hurdles was hard work!

We had to make sure we held the baton out in front of us!

The kids had fun when it became a race!

 On your marks...Get set...

GO!!

Lining up for baton running.

 And we're off!!

It's important to be ready for the baton when the person in your team comes to pass it to you.

  1. I liked jumping over the hurdles most, they were actually pretty easy, especially because I'm freakishly tall.
We definitely got competitive in the race!
